Local Elections 2021

In 2021 I was asked to be part of the design team for the BBC News Local Elections May 6th broadcast coverage.
We were tasked with redesigning the elections Infographic templates and Touchscreen layouts, focusing on how we present Branding, Animation and User Experience.

My role was to help modernise and simplify the existing brand, developing studio digital screens and print backing panels and how they could be seamlessly integrated within the visual language and used in collaboration with the rest of the design team’s assets

Part of my role in the team was also to design and animate the quick Stings used for in and out of programme throughout England, Scotland and Wales, as well as a content Background Loop and a generic Wipe

I also took part in developing the Histogram Polls, Scoreboards and Line Graph designs used to show things such as Change; Seat Counts; Share; Gains; Comparisons and Results.

The kit of parts was implemented cross-platforms.
It served as a vital tool to help the audience easily navigate and understand the usual visual complexity of the election counting coverage.
